i have always been attracted towards the electoral system of America wherein there is a 2 party system and after currently seeing the nuclear fiasco which india is going through i would strongly advocate the need of india adopting the same system

There are numerous advantages of the 2 party system some being the clear avoidance of the last minute alliances which are frustrating because national parties have to depend on the smaller regional outfits to actually form the government and these small outfits in turn hold the govt to ransom on almost every issue thus eroding the credibility of the government itself. What better example to quote here than the nuclear fiasco where in india as a whole stands to lose its face if the deal does not go through as it would then seriously undermine the authority of the leader of the nation.Another biggest advantage in the american system is that the voting public knows beforehand who is going to lead them and votes accordingly…a wide contrast from what is followed in some parties in India where it is only after the votes are casted that the leader is announced.

One needs to look around himself and grasp and adapt to what is good around him.Yes there are numerous disadvantages in the 2 party system as well but as compared to the current system that is being followed in India it appears to be divine. At least it would give the govt a much needed credibility while taking important decisions on behalf of the nation and it would also help in avoiding the confusion and also prevent the shame of having to go back on the verbal assurance given to another country. i for one strongly feel that it is high time India woke up to the effectiveness of the 2 Party Electoral system and adopted it with open arms.
