RESUME RULES

October 2nd, 2008 | by Sanjay
A resume can often make or break the deal with potenial employers on institutes..i would like to highlight the crucial aspects of the pefect resume which need to be mentioned at various stages ….,
A common concern regarding the development of that all-important resume is fitting all the information in a single page, as is usally preferred by both universties as well as organisations.Students seeking admission or jobs are often perplexed about what data should take precedence .”I have completed several short -term courses in addition to my degree, and have worked in three summer jobs. However , if I try to accommodate these qualfications, there’s no space for other informations such as my strengths, interests and goals,”laments ravi( a freind of mine) , who is currently seeking a job in advertising .The solution is not too hard to come by if you are able to shift the matter that is relevant from that which can be side-stepped.
APPLYING FOR YOUR FIRST JOB
at this stage, you will most likely to fresh out of college, with a rough idea of what career path you would ultimately like to read, your first job is an essentail step in this direction -it will provide several oppurtunties to develop a professional outlook on the basis of your hard work and talent .Employers will look toward your resume with the intention og gelaning information such as your capability of handling responsibility, working well in a team and dealing with pressure. Thus , in addition to mentioning your basic qualifications , it is imperative that you include extracurricular activites you may have participated in.Be, it a sport you played, debate/elocution competitions you won, or leadership qualities u displayed now is the time to communicate that u are a keen, enthusiastic and deicated worker, your resume should ensure that despite having little or no work experience in the ‘real’ world, you have the maturity , skill and determination to tackle any task.Knowing a foreign language or having exceptional computer skills are other aspects worth mentioning…..APPLYING FOR A SWITCH JOB
as a young professional that you will switch a number of jobs, No two jobs are same, even if the designation you are applying to is similar to the one u currently hold. However , interpersonal skills and educational qualifications are requiremnts that tend to overlap, especially within the same industry.A typical resume in this context would then pay more attention to the kind of work u have been doing in u r current post, as well as an account of your responsbilties and any accomplishments to your credits…
Expectations from your new job in terms of innovative ideas u may have and responsibilties u could handle should be mentioned while eduactional qualifications can take a backseat here( unless you are switching over a different industry altogether).employers will look towards your experinece and your professional sucess in the past, and u r resume should provide this back ground without seeming pompous or wordy
