Science, Religion & Tradition

In: Education & Reference

Religion is not in the tradition, nor in rituals.  Religion has no adjective to describle it.  Religion is simply religion, as love is love.  Can we call love Muslim, Chirstian, Jewish or  Hindu ? If love is neither Muslim nor Christian nor Jewish nor Hindu, then why should God be Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Hindu ?  Has not Jesus said  "  GOD IS LOVE " ?  The enlightened ones reminded : No one can be born into a religion; rather, religion has to be born into you.  One has to open one’s soul & receive religion.  In the mosque it is not, in the church or synagogues it is not, in the temple it is not.
One master points out. " Science depends on tradition.  Without a Newton, without an Edison , there is no possibility for Albert Einstein  to have existed at all.  He needs a certain tradition; only on that tradition, on the shoulders of the past giants in the world of scienc, he can stand.  Of course, when you stand on the shoulders of somebody you can look a little further than the person on whose shoulders you are standing, but that person is needed there.   " Sciense is a tradition, but religion is not a tradition.  It is an individual experience, utterly individual.  Once something is known in the world of science it need not be discovered again.  It will be foolish to discover it again.  You need not discover  the theory of  gravitation - Newton has done it.  You need not go & sit in a garden & watch an apple fall & then conclude that there must be some force in the earth that pulls it downwards; it will be simply foolish .  Newton has done it; now it is part of human tradition-  "But in religion you have to discover again & again.  No discovery becomes a heritage in religion "
A master teaches us that God’s way of being present in the world is His absence.  He is not present by being present.  God is  present  by being absent.  That is His way of being present in the world.  You can not pinpoint here is God.  If you pinpoint, it will be someting else, not God -  a statue, a scripture, a tradition, a morality, but not  religion, not God.  God is everywhere !  His way of presence is to be absent, &  this is what a master teaches you.

LOVE & COMPASSION

The very purpose of life is to be happy.  From the very core of our being, we desire contentment .  The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.  Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for the others automatically puts the mind at ease.  It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have & give us the strength the cope with any obstacles we encounter.     (  Dalai Lama  )
And with love, do what you will, there is no risk; there is no conflict .  Then love is the essence of virtue.  And a mind that is not in a state of love, is not a religious mind at all. ( J.Krishna )

Two God

From where have come the two Gods who have deluded you like this ?
You have named them Allaha & Rama, Karuna & Keshava, Hari & Hazarat.
If different ornaments are made of gold, their essence is still one.  Although namaz & puja are the same.
As two words they sound different.
He is Mahadeva.  He is Muhammad.
And you might see Brahma in Adam.
Some are called Hindu, some are called Truks.
All should reside on the same earth.
Vedas are read by Pudits.
And Kutaba is read by moulvis.
Kabir Says, both are vessels of the same clay.
But they have forgotten the reality.

The power of Faithism

O Lord! Enable all the peoples of the earth to gain admittance into the paradise of Thy faith, so that no created being may remain beyond the bounds of Thy good pleasure.

It is such faith that suffices above all the things that exist on earth, whereas no created thing on earth besides faith would suffices thee.  If thou are not a believer, the Tree of divine Truth would condemn thee to extinction.  If thou art a believer, thy faith shall be sufficient for thee above all things that exist on earth, even though thou posses nothing.   (   The Bab   )

God has endeared the faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion; such indeed are those who walk in righteousness - a grace and favour from God.  (  The Qur’an  )

Believe in your-self ! Have faith in your abilities !  Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you can not be successful or happy.   Believe it is possible to solve your problem.  Tremendous things happen to the bedliever.  So believe the answer will come.  It will.   (  Norman Vicent peale  )

Experience of Life

How is a problem in your life really an opportunity ? Problems invite us to go inside to recognize a bigger picture of our-selves & of life.  This bigger picture brings meaning to what is unfolding.  When you feel trapped in a problem, see if you can shift your perspective.  Ask your-self, " What is my soul inviting me to learn from this situation ? "  The answer will always revolve around a quality or valu, like gratitude, freedom, compassion, love, will, humour or acceptance.  The answer will always promote union rather than separation.  As soon as we find the meaning in our challenge, our resistance to it melts away.  Often, awareness of the lesson is all that is needed to resolve the problem.  If not, the awareness brings us courge & ways to work through it.  "  The period of greatest gain in knowledge & experience is the most difficult period in one’s life "     (  The 14th Dalai Lama  )

Out of clutter, find simplicity.  From discord, find harmony.  In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.   (  Albert Einstein  )

When it is dark enough, you can see the stars.  (  Charies Beard  )

Vital Pursuits

Welcome every morning with a smile.  Look on the new day as another special gift from your creator; another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday.  Be a self-starter.  Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day.  Today will never happen again.  Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all.  You were not born to fail.    (   Og Mandino  )

Don’t waste life in doubts & fears; spend your-self on the work before you, well assured that the right & absolute performance of this hour’s duties will be the best preparation for the hours & ages that will follow it.   (   R W Emerson  )

A human being is part of the whole called by us " Universe ", a part limited in time & space.  We experience our-selves, our thoughts & feelings as something separate from the rest…. This delusion is a kind of persion for us, restricting us to our personal desires & to affection for a few persons nearest to us.  Our task must be to free our-selves from the prsion by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures & the whole of nature in its beauty.   (  Albert Einstein  )

Thoughts on Hope

We must accept finite disappointment, but never loose infinite hope.  If you loose hope, somehow you loose the vitality that keeps life moving, you loose that courge to be, that quality that helps you go on inspite of it all.  And so today I still have a dream.   ( Martin Luther King, Jr. )

You must not loose faith & hope in humanity.  Humanity is an ocean.  If a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. (M.K.Gandhi )

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. (Date Carnegie)

Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime. Therefore, we are saved by hope.  Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; Therefore, we are saved by faith.  Nothing we do, however virtuous from the stand point of our friend or foe as from our own ; Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.  ( Reinhold Niebuhr )

Two thoughts of life

Every minute during which the candle burns, it becomes smaller & smaller.  Finally it is consumed.  In like manner our lives also must reach their end.

The rays of the candle’s light represent the power that " GOD " has over us.  Since he is no doubt " ALMIGHTY ".  His power on us is infinite.  Let us shine brightly by placing nothing in the way of  GOD’s hovering over us.  A candle fulfils its purpose simply by shining.

" TO LEARN TO BEND WITH THE STROM & LET IT PASS SAFELY OVER YOUR HEAD " may require long study & application but it is worthwhile.  To bend readily is difficult as to acknowledge frankly when you are in the wrong.

Flexibility means not to hold rigidly to your own opinions but to give others a chance to express their views.

A flexible mind savesone from many of the shocks of daily life, wins friends & pacifies enemies.

Don’t worry

Failures & disappointments are part of life process like success & fulfilment.  One has to accept everything with equal grace.  When you face a problem in life, there is no use to crying why it has happened.  Face the problem boldly & try your best to solve it.  Do whatever is possible that needs to be done.  However, if you find that the problem is impossible to solve, just learn to accept it.

Your life is like homework given by the teacher .  Do it sincerely as best as you can & then submit it to your MASTER - GOD for guidence.

Don’t think that unpleasent incidents in life happen to you only.  Everyone gets his share.  Never think that what has happened to you is far worse than that happened to anybody else.  Do not feel sorry for your-self.  Look around at other people.  This will definetly give you courge to face your trouble.  Do not think that bad luck will never end.  Do get busy to do what you can & leave it to THE SUPREME POWER.

Never think that you need to have everything you desire to be happy.  Always know that a mistake is not a disaster.  Realise that you need to be good at everything.  Relax  & do your best.  Stop comparing your-self with others.   Live in the moment .  Worrying about the past, the future & the things you can’t control is not good.  Focus only on what is happening now.

And Being happy is success, & of course success is happiness.

Thoughts on Hope

In: Education & Reference

The strong thread that holds life togetherin the midst of crisis is "HOPE".  Take from a man his wealth & you hinder him; take from him his purpose & you slow him down.  But take from man his " HOPE " &  you stop him.  He can go on without wealth & even without purpose for a while.  But he will not go on without " HOPE ".
When life is confronted with closed doors, " HOPE " always steps forword.  It speaks of possibility of purpose & faith.  These are the ones that open doors & helps life move again.
" HOPE " speaks when all else is silent.  It leads when nothing else points out a way.  It is the one trasure a man must have if he should keep on going.
" HOPE " is not the same as joy when things are going well; or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously headed for early success.  " HOPE " is the ability to work for the someting to succeed…."HOPE"  gives us strength to live & to continually try new things, even in conditions that seem….hopeless.
" HOPE " encourges men to endure & attempt everything, in depriving them of it, or in making it too distant, you deprive them of their very soul.
" HOPE " springs eternal in the human breast:  Man never is, but always to be blest.  The soul, uneasy & confin’d from home.  Rests & expatiates in a life to come.
