Stumbleupon is a website which can be really helpful in driving targetted traffic to your blog or website, if you learn to use this resource effectively. Stumbleupon has over a million users and can deliver traffic on a consistent basis to your blog.

What is Stumbleupon?
Unlike sites like digg.com and reddit.com, instead of listing popular stories on the homepage StumbleUpon works by downloading a toolbar which allows you to rate a website as thumbs up or down and view relevant websites (by clicking Stumble!) based on your preferences. Many people have noticed very good results with stumbleupon. It can bring a lot of traffic. Some people have reported that it brought them about 7k unique visits in one day alone!!!

Some ways to grow your stumbleupon network:
In order to receive good amount of traffic from stumbleupon, you first need to grow your network and be an active participant. You also need to display a little bit of patience if the results don't come quickly when you are starting out - just relax and learn what works and what doesn't.

Here are a few tips to reduce your learning curve and help you grow your stumbleupon network quickly.

1. Write a post about stumbleupon:

This goes without saying. If you want to get good results , then you have be an active user at stumbleupon. Submit as many webpages as you can and also stumble as many as u can, this can be the best long term strategy.

4. Join communities:
There are communities within stumbleupon where people with common interests hang out. Find out communities related to ur interest and try to get as much involved with them as possible.

5. Stumble daily:
If you want to gain more exposure on stumbleupon, then it is a good habit to stumble daily as much as you can. Some people do advice to maintain atleast 25-30 stumble per day, which can bring you over 400 unique visitors a day.

The above tips should be helpful in starting out with stumbleupon. I too haven't yet started using stumbleupon as much as I would like to. But I intend to start using it a lot atleast for a month, so that I can see what results I get. If I am satisfied I may make it a permament traffic driving method for my site.
