Ibibo’s five Stars of Public Ka Vitt Mantri

February 13th, 2008

It is really a good thing that five of the members of ibibo are using their economic acumen to present their view on the upcoming budget with our ex finance minister. After ibibo choose five members, I was really eager to read what were the answers written by them which impressed the ibibo players so much that they given them a chance to present their thoughts in media. I read the answers, ahhhh the answers are really great so I summed up all the answers by them here so ibibo members should read them to find out how intelligently they use their economic knowledge:

I find out the answers written by three and not able to find answers written by 2 others named Abhimanyu and Saurabh, what was the reason behind this, either I am not a good searcher or they have not written any answers. There were 5 questions asked by ibibo, read the answers by 3:

Q1. How many times has P. Chidambaram presented the Union Budget?
Answers by:

S.P Sir: Five times

Viredra: Shri P Cidembaram has been presented four times.

Preeti P: From 1996-1998, Mr P Chidambaram presented union budget 2 times as a finance minister under the United Front government. On May 24, 2004, again he became the Minister of Finance in the congress party-led United Progressive Alliance government. This time he presented 4 union budget. So, Mr. P Chidambaram presented the Union Budget total 6 times.

My Argument: I think this was really the toughest question asked by ibibo which requires some special research or experiment to find out the answer and after doing the experiments the 3 have given the answers which varies from 4 to 6 and surprisingly all are right answers according to ibibo….. What is the right answer?

Q2. Which parliamentary constituency does P. Chidambaram represent?

S.P Sir: sivaganga in state of Tamil Nadu

Viredra: Shri P Cidembaram represent Sivaganga’s parliamentary constituency of Tamilnadu

Preeti P: The Lok Sabha constituency of our Finance Minister P Chidambaram is Shivaganga in Tamilnadu.

My Argument: All right that’s a great show where all 3 bang on target, but I m really impressed by Virendra, read the underlined word, its Cidembaram (not once but twice), not Chidambaram, I m really thankful to Virendra to tell all of us the right spelling of our Finance Minister.

Q3. Why should government change one lakh limit of saving on which tax relief is given? (Answer in 50 words)

S.P Sir: Though I am against any tax relief but considering the national advantage and dificulties faced by the working class this limit of saving should be increased.

Viredra: As inflation rises, income tax slab should change. In present context the average expencess is more than 15,000/-, and if we are earning the same amount then we need to pay income tax.

Preeti P: Because at present India is experiencing equity linked investment boom.

My Argument: S.P Sir and Virendra has given a very general answer one can answer when think superficially, but read the answer by Preeti P, this is the answer one can expect from someone which is leaving ih his/her world of wonderful dreams full of mythical characters, where a prince charm rescue a cute queen from the reign of dragons, Those who don’t know anything about market for them the fact is that only 4% of Indian people invest in markets and around 70% traders lost money in markets, and Preeti P has given a reason that India’s is expecting equity linked investment boom, can anyone tell me what is the link between investment boom and tax relief in savings limit?, amazing thoughts.

Q4. What was the best announcement of last budget and why? (Answer in 50 words)

S.P Sir: Expanssion of cricle of service tax as these professional will have to come with their real income, those service tax is a kind of undesired burdon for the public in general.

Viredra: He has not given the answer for this but made it to Publc Ka Vitt Mantri.

Preeti P: Additional allocation of Rs.12,000 Crore for National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and Rs 800 Crore for Sampoorna Gram Rozgar Yojana in districts not covered by NREGA.

My Arguments: I think the best announcement was NREGA, u may ask why, look around, u must have seen a massive change in the infrastructure, extension of roads is one of this, and this is undergoing at a vary rapid pace which is very good thing in a country like India where a 1 year project needs around a good five years because of corruption, this has given the chance to people who wanted to use their muscle power to make money and this is the one project which have direct effect on the enhancement of livings of BPL peoples.

Q5.  What would be the five points/ strategies that you would propose for the new budget?

S.P Sir: 1.Reduced direct tax rates.
2. More Funds for school education and public health services.
3. High duty rates on tobaco and alcohol products.
4. A service tax hike on luxury hotels and holiday resorts.
5. removing tax reliefs, raising the the limit of tax free income and just one tax for the business class.

Viredra: He has not given the answer for this also but made it to Public Ka Vitt Mantri, I think the three answers given my him impressed the ibibo players so much especially; P Cidembaram, that they just can’t hold themselves and decided that yes he is "The One".

Preeti P: 1. Make rural India educated and employed.
2. Renewal of Tax Holiday for EOUs.
3. No more tax burden for common people
4. No price hikes in commodities, food price, petrol and cooking Gas etc
5. Implementation of e-governance and computerization to improve the quality of governance

My Arguments: Why there is so much talk about tax duties. Whenever someone asks, what is the major problem that India is facing today? Two answers come to everyone’s mind: Corruption and Population and others are Farmers condition, water crisis and Natural disasters like Flood, Draught, etc, but none of the 3 has talked about these. Ok, why there shouldn’t be a price hike in petroleum products, ask them, I m sure they don’t even know how much the government is giving subsidy of kerosene petrol, diesel and LPG. Why there is a hike in service tax on luxury hotels and holiday resorts, didn’t they learn anything from Lalu’s Rail mantra?

So guys hope u has learnt something from this post about the people’s who runs ibibo. Likhnay ko to main bhut kuch likh sakta hoon, jo bhut kadwa hoga lakin chhodo bhi yarr pathar pey sir marnay sey sir hi phutha hain, waisay bhi India main corruption toh sab jagay hain, toh ibibo kaisay bach sakta hain.

Merry Christmas: Some Facts About Christmas

December 25th, 2007

Actually today i read one HOF’s member article about the Modi’s win and decided to write one in response to his post but than it stuck to me that it’s 25th Dec., Christmas day, why to create controversies lets write something about our beloved Jesus, and started to search about Christmas and after reading articles got confused why this christmas day is held, well i m summing up what i gathered from net about christmas but till now not properlly know why Christmas? Hoping to get an answer from u.

Why Christmas
A brief from first article: Christmas is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. The date of the celebration is traditional, and is not considered to be his actual date of birth. Christmas festivities often combine the commemoration of Jesus’ birth with various cultural customs, many of which have been influenced by earlier winter festivals.

Another article goes like this: The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back to the early Mesopotamians.

Many of these traditions began with the Mesopotamian celebration of New Years. The Mesopotamians believed in many gods, and as their chief god - Marduk. Each year as winter arrived it was believed that Marduk would do battle with the monsters of chaos. To assist Marduk in his struggle the Mesopotamians held a festival for the New Year. This was Zagmuk, the New Year’s festival that lasted for 12 days.

There were many articles which i come across claiming to be "The True Origin of Christmas" so leaving this up to u to found the origin of Christmas.

Santa’s Origin
The American version of St. Nicholas, he originated from Dutch settlers’ stories about Sinter Klass, the Dutch name for St Nicholas, and how he gave presents to girls and boys. St Nicholas was Bishop of Myra, in Turkey in the 3rd century AD, who would travel in his red bishop’s robes and give gifts to the poor. He was believed to have been particularly kind to children. Apparently, he was also very shy. Legend has it that one day, wanting to give money to a family in secret, he dropped some gold coins down the chimney, where they landed in a girl’s stocking.

Mother Mary
Mary was the wife of Joseph and the mother of Jesus Christ, who was conceived within her by the Holy Spirit when she was a virgin. She is often called the “Virgin Mary”. Jesus Christ was born in a cave, not in a wooden stable. Caves were used to keep animals in because of the intense heat. A large church is now built over the cave, and people can go down inside the cave. Mary’s other sons included Joses (Joseph), James, Judas, and Simon. There were evidently sisters as well, but they are unnamed.

Why Xmas for Christmas?
he abbreviation of Xmas for Christmas is not irreligious. The first letter of the word Christ in Greek is chi, which is identical to our X. In the early days of printing, when font sizes were limited and type was set by hand, abbreviations and ditto marks were used liberally. Xmas came into general use from the church!

Christmas Tree
Christmas trees are edible. Many parts of pines, spruces, and firs can be eaten. The needles are a good source of vitamin C. Pine nuts, or pine cones, are also a good source of nutrition. Christmas trees are known to have been popular in Germany as far back as the sixteenth century. In England, they became popular after Queen Victoria’s husband Albert, who came from Germany, made a tree part of the celebrations at Windsor Castle. In the United States, the earliest known mention of a Christmas tree is in the diary of a German who settled in Pennsylvania.

Poor Jesus! For on His birthday we give earrings to Mother and slippers to Dad and a bicycle to Junior, but nothing to Him. We yearn for possessions, and not for Him. We seek out appropriate gifts for all our loved ones except for Him for whom we can shop without money or credit cards or lay-away plan. Some of us no longer even give Him lip service, lest someone think we are too religious.

Merry Christmas to all and may Santa bring all ur fun filled happy moments back to u.

Creating a Bootable CD

December 15th, 2007

When a bootable CD is created a boot record is put at the very beginning of the disc(just as it is with a bootable floppy and hard disk). This record specifies weather the CD is to emulate a floppy or hard disk drive and contains a pointer to the location of the actual boot image file. The specification for creating a bootable CD requires a boot record at sector 11 of the last session on the CD. The boot record contains an absolute sector number that points to the "boot catalog", but there is no restriction on the location of the boot catalog. The catalog contains a list of entries describing all the ‘bot images’ present on the CD. Again there is no restriction on where the boot images can be on the CD. There can be any number of them, but they fall into three diffrent types:

    1. Bootable emulation causes the image to be mapped to drive A: or C:,         resembling (or emulating) a conventional bootable storage device.

    2. Non-bootable emulation maps the image as a conventional storage device, and allocates the last drive letter to it.

    3. No emulation is a special mode that loads the image into memory and executes it directly. It is extremely useful when developing copy protection or smart CDs designed for a variety of systems. For example, the ‘no emulation’ mode is used in the Windows NT operating system CDs.

In addition, u can create multi-image CDs where the boot image is selected dynamically by the system BIOS, but doing this requires a lot of manual assembling and editing.

A CD can be configured to boot as drive A: or C:. To boot as drive A:, the boot image must be made in the same foramt as 1.2MB, 1.4MB or 2.88MB floppy disk. Ths first floppy disk drive (if present) will become the B: drive. If the system has a second floppy disk drive, it will not be accessile. in effect, the bootable disc will "take the place of" emulated drive. If the CD is set to boot as the C: drive, it replaces the normal hard disk drive C: and has no size limit other than that of the CD itself. However, the source drive image must have only one partition. This partition must be both the first entry in the partition table and a standard DOS partition.

I want to die

November 19th, 2007

I tried to kill the pain
but only brought more
so much more
I lay dying
and I’m pouring crimson regret and betrayal
I’m dying, praying, bleeding and screaming
am I too lost to be saved
am I too lost?

my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation
my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation

do you remember me
lost for so long
will you be on the other side
or will you forget me
I’m dying, praying, bleeding and screaming
am I too lost to be saved
am I too lost?

my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation
my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation

I want to die!!!

my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation
my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation

my wounds cry for the grave
my soul cries for deliverance
will I be denied Christ
tourniquet
my suicide

Bootable CDs

November 13th, 2007

When the hard drive fails to boot a PC, technicians was traditionally forced to deal with boot disks. While doing this could certainly start a system to the A: prompt, there was hardly any opportunity for sophisticated diagnostics, and diagnostics with an operating system such as Windows was out of the question. Later with the BIOS capable to support to boot from a CD drive, this opened many possible applications for “bootable CDs” and allowed the creation of powerful recovery CDs that could boot and restore a crippled system to its original state. Most commercial PCs sold today come with one or more recovery CDs for just this purpose. Creating a bootable CD allows you to combine operating system with boot and diagnostic features to test defective systems or to automate the process of new system setups. The problem is that placing bootable code on a CD has generally been a cumbersome, time consuming and error-prone process.

Of course, a bootable CD won’t do much good unless the PC supports it. Start your CMOS setup and check the boot order entry. In most cases, the boot order is set as A:, but you will probably able to select the particular device’s used to boot the system. If you can select CD-ROM as a boot device, your BIOS supports bootable CDs. If you are dealing with the older system that does not allow the CD-ROM as a boot device, a BIOS upgrade or motherboard replacement may be needed to update the system.

Some Disc Terminologies

November 9th, 2007

Fixation Vs. Finalization

Each session written to a disc must be fixed before the session can be read. Fixation is the process of writing the session’s lead-in and lead-out information to the disc. This process finishes a writing session and creates a table of contents. Fixation is required before a CD-ROM or CD audio player can play the disc. Discs that are “fixated for append” can hev additional sessions recorded later creating a multisession disc. When a disc I finalized, the absolute lead-in and lead-out for the entire disc are written, along with information that tells the drive not to look for subsequent sessions.

DISC-AT-ONCE

Disc-at-Once is a CD mode that requires data to be written continuously, without any interruptions, until the entire data set is transferred to the CD-R. The complete lead-in, program and lead-out are written in a single writing process. All of the information to be recorded needs to be staged on the computers hard disk prior to recording in the Disc-at-Once mode. Recording in the Disc-at-Once mode eliminates the linking, run-in and run-out blocks associated with the multisession and packet recording (a.k.a DirectCD) modes.

Track-at-Once

The Track-at-once writing mode is the key to multisession capability, and allows a session to be written in a number of discrete write vents, called tracks because the written sessions contain complete “tracks” pf information. The disc may be removed form the writer and read in another writer (given the proper software) before the session is fixated.

Track-at-Once writing is a form of incremental write that mandates a minimum track through length of 300 blocks and a maximum of 90 tracks per disc. A track written at once has 150 blocks of overhead for run-in, run-out, ore-gap, and linking purposes. On the other hand, packet write is a method where several write events are allowed within a track, thus reducing the demands of overhead data. Each writing packet is bounded by seven blocks of data: four for run-in, two for run-out and one for linking.

Multisession CDs

November 7th, 2007

One of the problems with recording early CDs is that once the CD was written, it could not be appended. This means if 123 MB of data is written to a 650MB disc, the remaining 527MB of storage potential on the disc is lost. CD developers sought a means of adding new data to a CD which has been previously recorded (but still has unused space available). This multisession capability means that a CD is written in “sessions”, with subsequent sessions linked to previous sessions- allowing the CD to be systematically filled.

A CD-R recorder that supports multisession recording can write a disc that will have multiple sessions liked together- each session containing its own lead-in, progam and lead-out areas. In effect, each session is treated as a different CD. Any multisession capable CD drive can access the data in any session. By comparison, a pressed CD-ROM or a CD-R written in Disc at once mode contains only one lead-in area, program area and lead-out area.

Multisession Problems

Multisession technology is clearly important because it allows you to add data to a CD-R disc incrementally (a bit at a time) as needed. This makes it possible to eventually utilize the entire disc. However, there are two general problems reading multisession discs: either you can read data only in first session, or u can read data only in last session.

If u can only read data in the first session of the disc, there is probably a compatibility issue between the disc and the drive. For example, u may have recorded the disc in standard Mode 1 format, while ur multisession CD-ROM drive works only with CD-ROM Mode 2 multisession discs. In other cases, the CD-ROM drive may be too old to support multisession discs at all. Try the disc on several current drives and see if another drive will read subsequent sessions. If so, u may need to upgrade ur drive to ensure multisession compatibility.

If u can only read the last session of the disc, the disc may have been recorded improperly. For example, u may have forgotten to link ur new data (the last session) with the data previously recorded on the disc.  However, some of the later CD pre-mastering software will allow u to switch to different sessions using a “session selection” feature. When the selected session enabled, it can be read from the CD drive as if it were the only session on the disc (any files linked from previous sessions on the same disc will still be readable). Check ur own CD-R software to see if it supports such a feature.

High-Speed Media

November 6th, 2007

It takes a finite amount of time to write information of time to write information to a CD-R or CD-RW discs- the faster a drive can write , the less time it will take to complete the operation. For example, a 16x drive can write a disc faster than a 10x drive. The problem is that there is often trouble with ordinary CD-R/CD-RW media writing at higher speeds. If u tries ordinary media in faster drives, u’ll usually see an error such as media error or writing error. This is why it is suggested that u lower down the writing speed when u see errors. To keep pace with today’s faster writing speeds, u can use “high- speed” media. CD-R discs are often rated for their top writing speed (for example, “certified for 12x writing speeds”). CD-R discs are also generally backward compatible, so CD-R media rated for higher speeds should work in slower devices. If u have a fast CD-R drive, be sure to use suitable high speed media.

However things are little bit different for a high –speed CD-RW drive. The high speed CD-RW media format prevents older 1x to 4x CD-RW drives from writing it. Trying to write high speed discs in older CD-RW drives may result in a variety of errors, so u need a drive with 4x or faster writing speeds in order to use high-speed CD-RW media. However you can still read high speed CD-RW media in 1x to 4x drives.
