A post on Surya Pratim

November 19th, 2008

Yesterday was not any day of particular consequence till Idle mind sent me a blurb that conveyed the shocking news of the demise of Our dear ibibo friend- Surya Pratim. Had it come from anyone else, I would have dismissed it as a  practical joke. But I cannot help believing our esteemed friend, Idle mind, who is serious about his friendships.

Having been a part of IBIBO for the past one year and more, I consider it my bounden duty to pay respects to his departed soul.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

I, on behalf of  all my dear friends at IBIBO, request the IBIBO management to send a wreath to the bereaved family of Surya. I hope I am not asking too much. It’s just a small token acknowledgment of our bondage, whatever be our differences on many matters, we are a family.

It is moments like these that bring us closer as a family. Don’t you agree?

I would appreciate comments regarding this.

Thank u once again/

I Now Know

November 3rd, 2008

I

(source of image-unknown)

I now know the touch of a soft kiss,

The breath of a friendly being,

The scent of my mother,

The warm protection of my father.

I know not the sharp pain of hunger,

The weird excesses of anger,

The drugged conditions of languor,

Or the chill feel of hate or pride.

May my condition stay,

Keeping all knowledge of evil at bay.

Alas, that was not to be

Like everyone else I will one day see,

what it is all like-

The webs of hate,

The mire of lust,

The smart of revenge,

And all wrong means to quench.

Let the Green Meadows…

October 25th, 2008

Let the green meadows

Lift the cares of life

And spread them  like the pollen

On the green grass of time;

May the pain dissolve

Transmuted into lovely sprouts

Of new tubes of experience

Without the agony, without  regret

Without desire for a vengeance fete.

Life Dwells Here!

October 17th, 2008

Life dwells

In the roundness of the moon,

The brightness of the sun,

The freshness of a dew drop,

And the dawn of every new day.

When nothing can sully these that have existed

Over millions of ages,

What is it that tarnishes

The life of man

Checkered with nothing but experiences,

Calling this an act of Sin

And that a deed of Heavens’ win?

Our myopic faiths

Round our lives

And make us stale

Before we are even alive.

A practical poem on love

October 14th, 2008

I fell in love with my own translation of a song composed by Kannadasan and sung by Chandrababu (tamil film actor). I’d put it up yesterday for a sawaal answer on unrequited love and decided to blog it.

Here it goes,

All those who reach the full bloom of youth don’t fall in love
All those who fall in love don’t unite in life
All those who unite in life don’t live together
All those who live together don’t die together

Those who know the song, find out the lyrics please/

Flashes of Thoughts for you

October 10th, 2008

In the open thoroughfares,

Where sale in bales take place,

Where Sin and Din thrive

Like sisters of the same waters,

Suddenly like a silverfish

Sailing in the high tide of my delight

I spot  your tender human warmth

Quivering tentatively in dazed silence

Like the wings of a thoughtful butterfly…

Krishnaaaa

(image googled)

Neela kadal thorum

Nira kadalaam kannaaah

Nencham kudi konda Andru muthal Indu

Engha porul kandum chintanai sella

(The entire blue expanse is nothing

but your dark complexion Krishna.

The moment you entered my heart,

I could think of nothing else but you.)

Kaalingan sirathile

Kathitha padhathile

En kanavu kanavunodu , ninaivu ninaivu nodu

Kanninthuruga, varam tharuga, panninthuruga

(On the  head of the  mighty Kalinga you danced with great ease.

Give me the boon that in my dream ful hours I think of you

That  in my wakeful hours I think of you,

so much so that I melt in ripe humility,

in obeisance to your great soul)

Thought for the Day

August 20th, 2008

 I think   anger, jealousy, envy,
 hatred , meanness
 and prejudiced feelings  camouflaged
 very well
 actually creates so much tension
that it affects those who don’t possess it
rather than those who do.
Some such feelings  strive to  annihilate  its object
and its object is the kind of person who exists
in the  naive thought that these sentiments don’t exist.

It is very difficult to love  without  passion,
care without being self conscious.
Very few actually do,
without the hassles of  pride andself -aggrandisement.
When even two or three such people meet,
every such meeting is divine.

If music be the food of love

August 15th, 2008

I would like to share  a song that  I like.An old  old song ofSteve Wonder(I just called to say)

And  a poem for  my dear IBIBO friends.

The day breaks

Wtih your memories

It ends with your dreams

You seem like a constant

An infinity set asail

In the fluids of my living joys.

Resourceful in its self generating spirit

You grow, you multiply

With the  destruction  of every thought…..

I sigh, my love

In  the sweetness

Of making and unmaking you….
